Course Overview
Echocardiography is an imaging technique that visualizes the structure and function of the heart using ultrasound waves. The quality of the image depends on tissue characteristics between the chest wall and the heart, as well as the clinician’s skill in performing the procedure.
We start from scratch: the course is designed for beginners — we explain the basics of the different echocardiography views, both theory and practice, then move to real pathological cases (valvular and congenital heart diseases), critical-care echo, medical report writing and comprehensive case management.
What You Will Achieve
- Echo basics: physics, techniques and standard views
- Adult echo: diagnose valve diseases and heart-muscle problems, and assess heart function
- Critical care echo: identify urgent conditions like pericardial effusion, aortic dissection and pulmonary embolism
- ICU applications: assess blood flow and fluid responsiveness, and guide emergency treatment
- Advanced techniques: tissue Doppler, speckle tracking, contrast echo and TEE
- Medical report writing and comprehensive case management
Advanced topics also covered: cardiomyopathies and pericardial diseases.
